Modern European restaurant in Wandsworth, London
Chez Bruce
The Common Room Everyone Wants
Wandsworth Common does not sound like a destination. Then you reach 2 Bellevue Road and understand why the people who live south of the river guard this place the way sailors guard a harbour. Chez Bruce has been feeding the neighbourhood for years, and it still operates as a three-course set menu room. No tasting menu. No hurry. The service is the kind that notices you without announcing it.
Prices, as listed in March 2026, are 68.50 pounds for three courses at lunch and 98.50 at dinner. That is real money, so treat it like a real occasion. The kitchen leans on the French and British traditions, and the dishes shift with the market, so I will not promise you a particular plate. Ask about the specials and choose what the staff light up about. The corkage policy is generous for the area, 25 pounds a bottle at lunch and 50 at dinner, with a cap of one bottle per person.
A word on the service charge. It is an optional 12.5 percent, added separately. Pay it. The people who make this room run well are the reason it is full every night. Book far ahead, take someone who deserves it, and give yourself time. A good restaurant is a place that lets you forget everything else. This one does it with a straight face and a tablecloth. Leave the laptop at home.
